The villiage of Thompsonville was named after Orrin Thompson, owner of the Thompsonaville Carpet Co in 1828. Buisnesses grew rapidily around its main industry. This walking tour begins at the water fountain in front of the Town Hall, and wraps around Freshwater Pond, down Asnuntuck St., past Connecticut River, heads up Main St., past the Bigelow Commons, then the Polish Home. The tour continues down Alden Avenue past St. Adalbert's Church, and back to the Town Green. (Tour starts at Enfield Town Green - 820 Enfield St.)
