NO SURCHARGE NO SENIOR DISCOUNT This is an introductory course in watercolor painting designed to benefit and challenge all students from beginner to advanced. Students will learn about water-based media and investigate a variety of techniques and applications. Emphasis will be placed on composition and color as students develop paintings from both classroom still-life arrangements and personal sources. All required supplies can be purchased form Michael's Arts and Crafts at 25 Hazard Ave, Enfield, CT. Materials list is located online.

Supplies may be purchased at Michaels Arts and Crafts (a coupon is available on-line or in the weekend newspaper circulars.) A good range of supplies from economy to professional is available, you can choose what you wish to spend. Remember, successful artwork can be created regardless of what you spend on materials. Brushes: assortment of flat, round and oval brushes in varying sizes. Synthetic brushes are great for beginners and often last much longer. Professional artists prefer sable brushes or blends for quality and durability. #8 round #4 round large oval or 1" flat brush for large washes 1/2" flat small liner brush for detail work Paints: 12 color palette or tubes if you prefer Suggested colors: cadmium yellow light, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium red medium, alizaron crimson, ultramarine blue, pthalocyanine blue, pthalocyanine green, hooker's green, burnt sienna, burnt umber. Paper: Pad or block of 11 x 15 140 lb watercolor paper. We will use 6-8 sheets throughout class, if you want to purchase single sheets. Feel free to purchase larger paper size which can be torn down to size. Mixing wells: Inexpensive plastic wells are great, look for about 10 wells. Some wells have lids to save paint colors for later sessions. Masking Fluid: (optional) A small bottle is useful for a variety of techniques if you wish to explore. Jar or cup: You will need 2, one for cleaning brushes, the other for painting. Pencil: #2 or HB drawing pencil Eraser: any will do. Masking tape: 1" roll width Portable work surface-( optional) Drawing board, Plexiglas or other flat, smooth surface 16" x 20" to tape down your watercolor paper
